A quick ejection after two consecutive technical fouls
Draymond Green continues to make headlines for the wrong reasons. The Golden State Warriors forward was ejected Saturday night during the home game against the Utah Jazz after vehemently contesting an officiating decision. Another ejection during a particularly tumultuous period for the 34-year-old player.
A difficult period for Green and the Warriors
The incident occurred at the end of the second quarter, as Green was defending Kyle Filipowski near the basket. The Jazz big man had stopped his dribble under the rim and was trapped by Green’s defense, who then started yelling « Three! Three! » toward referee Simone Jelks, calling for a three-second violation that never came.
Moments later, as Lauri Markkanen finished the play with a dunk, Green again expressed his displeasure, earning him a first technical foul. After that first whistle, the Warriors player turned toward referee Kevin Cutler and addressed him with a few words, which immediately earned him a second technical foul and an automatic ejection.

This ejection marks the 22nd regular season ejection of Green’s career, and his second in just eight games. On December 20, he had already been ejected at home against the Suns. In the following game, Green even argued with his coach Steve Kerr on the bench and left the court on his own in the third quarter.
The ejection is all the more damaging as Green was having a good start to the game in his usual style: 8 points on 3/4 shooting, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in just 12 minutes of play. At the time of his ejection, the Warriors were trailing 58-48 against a Jazz team struggling with a record of 12 wins and 21 losses.
This new controversy comes during a difficult season for Golden State, which has a record of 18 wins and 17 losses and is struggling to regain its brilliance of recent years. The Warriors will now have to do without their defensive anchor during crucial moments, a situation that is becoming recurring and concerning for the California organization.
