Dallas Mavericks: Owners Deny Sale Rumors Involving Mark Cuban
The Adelson and Dumont families reaffirm their commitment to the Dallas Mavericks after speculation about a potential buyout by local investors and Mark Cuban.

Rumors of a possible sale of the Dallas Mavericks were quickly denied Wednesday night. Fans of the Texas franchise had begun to get excited after revelations from NBA insider Marc Stein, who reported that an unidentified group of Dallas investors was interested in partnering with minority owner Mark Cuban to buy the Mavericks from Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont.
The franchise has experienced a difficult period since the Adelson ownership arrived, notably marked by the trade of Luka Doncic. This situation, combined with Miriam Adelson’s unpopularity among billionaires, had fueled speculation about a change of ownership.
A Firm Denial and Expansion Plans
Any lingering hope of a shift in ownership was quickly extinguished when Marc Stein closed his reporting with a blunt message from a source close to the Adelson family. “The team is not for sale, and the families (Adelson and Dumont) look forward to expanding their equity stake over time,” the source told Stein.
“The Dumont and Adelson families remain fully committed to the Dallas Mavericks franchise and to the Dallas community. They remain focused on building a championship organization for the long term,” the source added.
That phrase — “expanding their equity stake” — is doing real work. Under a clause in the original sale, the Adelsons have the option to further dilute Mark Cuban’s position, which could fall as low as seven percent if exercised before December 2027.

Strong Signals Sent by Management
Patrick Dumont’s presence at the game against the Phoenix Suns Tuesday night did not go unnoticed. Rarely present at games, and even less so on the road, his appearance seemed to be a clear message indicating he has no plans to leave anytime soon.
This reaffirmation of the current owners’ commitment puts an end, at least temporarily, to speculation about Mark Cuban’s return to lead the franchise he had run for years before selling to the Adelson and Dumont families.
