A homecoming for Kahudi
After coming through Cholet’s youth academy and breaking out in Pro B with Évreux, Charles Kahudi started his Betclic ELITE career with Dijon in the 2008-2009 season. Following six years at Le Mans, he joined ASVEL in 2015, where he won four French championship titles and left a strong legacy at the Villeurbanne club.
His track record is impressive: four French championship titles, two French Cups, two Leaders Cups, six All-Star Game selections, and most notably a European championship with the French national team in 2013, along with two other continental podium finishes (silver at Euro 2011, bronze in 2015) and a bronze medal at the 2014 World Cup.
JDA banks on his experience
Now, Kahudi returns to JDA, where he first rose to prominence, to support Jordan Barnett and strengthen the Burgundy squad during a challenging period. He arrives in good shape after participating in Élan Chalon’s preseason. Additionally, the Kinshasa native stays close to his home city of Lyon.
Sporting Director Fabien Romeyer explained this choice in the official statement:
« Given the upcoming schedule and the complexity of the JFL market, reinforcing the roster was essential. We are therefore happy to welcome Charles Kahudi. Physically ready, he brings vast experience: perfect knowledge of the championship, European competitions, and many players. His unwavering commitment and defensive intensity perfectly match JDA’s DNA. »
For his part, Charles Kahudi expressed his enthusiasm: « I’m very happy to return to JDA! I can’t wait to get to work with the team. I thank the coach and all club members for this great opportunity. »
A partnership with Barnett while awaiting Narace
Until Williams Narace returns, the Kahudi-Barnett pairing should provide real physical and defensive strength for Dijon. With his experience accumulated in EuroLeague and with the French national team, Kahudi promises to be a major asset in the coming weeks for a JDA team aiming to stay competitive in a very challenging championship.
