Cancer survivor Nikola Topic completes chemotherapy! Thunder guard could return this season

This is undoubtedly the best news of the early year, as everyone wishes for good health. According to Sportal Srbija, Oklahoma City’s young Serbian guard Nikola Topic (6’6″, 20 years old) has completed his chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with testicular cancer last October. This crucial step in his fight against the disease now allows him to consider a return to the court soon.
Nikola Topić’s manager, Miško Ražnatović, confirmed that Topić’s chemotherapy treatment is over and hopes to see Topić get some NBA minutes this season, per @SportalSrbija.

His agent, Misko Raznatovic, confirmed this encouraging news: « The chemotherapy went successfully and he will now be able to resume training, even though he remained active throughout the treatment. It’s difficult to define a precise timeline, but I sincerely hope he will be able to get minutes in the G-League and also in the NBA, if things continue to progress as they are now. »
A journey filled with obstacles for the 12th pick of the 2024 Draft
Drafted 12th overall by Oklahoma City in 2024, Nikola Topic has not yet been able to showcase his skills on NBA courts. The 20-year-old player was first forced to miss the entire 2023-2024 season due to a torn ACL. Then, just as he seemed ready to begin his professional career, the cancer diagnosis came last October.
Misko Raznatovic emphasized the mental strength his client has shown: « Illness is a difficult ordeal for anyone, especially when it affects a young player who is only 20 years old, who already had to miss the previous season due to a knee injury. But Nikola endured all of that and is now on the road to recovery. »
« If he managed to overcome these obstacles,
nothing will be difficult or unattainable for him »
The agent remains optimistic about Topic’s athletic future: « If he stays healthy, and I’m convinced he will, everything he’s experienced over the past two years will only strengthen his character. If he managed to overcome these obstacles, nothing will be difficult or unattainable for him. »
As the only natural point guard in the reigning champions’ roster, Nikola Topic has a great opportunity with the Thunder. His basketball IQ and maturity, already noticed during the preseason, could quickly open the doors to Oklahoma City’s rotation. Most importantly, however, is that the young Serbian is now in good health and can finally live peacefully to achieve his NBA dream.
The best news in a long time: Topic has finished his treatment and can fully resume training! https://t.co/3IACTErQ4K
