Boulazac loses key player and already seeking medical replacement

Boulazac Basket Dordogne will have to start the 2025-2026 season without one of its key players. Hugo Robineau injured his calf during the Vannes Tournament on Sunday, August 31st, during the game between Nanterre and BBD. The club’s medical team has sidelined the shooting guard for 8 weeks.

This injury comes at the worst possible time for Boulazac, three weeks before the start of the season in Betclic Elite. Robineau, considered one of the best players of the 2024-2025 ELITE 2 season, will miss important fixtures. He will not participate in the Supercoupe at Roland-Garros and will miss at least the first four championship games.
Emergency recruitment under regulatory constraints
Facing this situation, Boulazac Basket Dordogne is working to find a solution. « During this period, the medical and performance staff will be working hard to get Hugo back on his feet and allow him to rejoin the group in the best possible condition, » explains the club in a statement published on social media.
To maintain a competitive roster of 10 players, the Boulazac management is looking for a medical replacement. « The club is working immediately to recruit a medical substitute to strengthen the team during his absence, » specifies BBD. The challenge will be significant for the technical staff: finding a Betclic Elite level player without being able to turn to the American market. With four American players already in its ranks, Boulazac has reached the maximum quota allowed by the French National Basketball League regulations.
