Adama Bal (6’7″, 21 years old) could be making his return to France. According to our information, SIG Strasbourg is pushing to recruit the French guard/point guard who previously played for Le Mans club, INSEP, and then Arizona and Santa Clara universities. After a less productive final NCAA season than the previous one, the former U20 international is expected to join Betclic ELITE next season.
Strasbourg turns to NCAA
After announcing Fousseyni Traore’s arrival (BYU), SIG continues its strategy of tapping into the NCAA market. This time they’re targeting Adama Bal, a versatile player capable of playing both point guard and shooting guard, known for his playmaking abilities. The Le Mans native, born December 18, 2003, shined during his time at Santa Clara, particularly in the 2023-2024 season averaging 14.4 points and 3.1 assists.
A shortened season, but potential still recognized
Still delivering strong performances in 2024-2025 (12.9 points on 41.8% shooting and 3 assists), Adama Bal’s momentum was slowed by a leg injury in February. He remained Santa Clara’s offensive leader, with 22 games scoring 10+ points, including standout performances like his 27 points against Kennesaw State and 20 points against Gonzaga.
U20 European Champion in 2023
As a French international, he won the U20 Euro in 2023 with Team France, averaging 11.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. A major achievement for someone who had already won silver at the U16 Euro in 2019. At the club level, he played for JALT Le Mans, SCM Le Mans, then INSEP between 2018 and 2021 before heading to NCAA.
Not expected in the Draft, a logical return to Europe
Not projected for the 2025 NBA Draft, Adama Bal has focused on the European market. And it’s in France, with Strasbourg, where he could make his professional debut. A homecoming for a player seeking consistency, responsibilities, and an environment conducive to his development.
