Already present last year, Roman Domon and Brice Dessert have been invited to participate, as they are currently expected to join NCAA next year. Grouped in Team Eurocamp 2, they will team up with Paul Mbiya, ASVEL’s Congolese center who is also heading to NCAA and North Carolina State.
Adam Atamna invited, along with potential Paris recruit Momo Faye
Team Eurocamp 1 will include several familiar faces from Pro B. The highly athletic Ilane Fibleuil from Poitiers; Paris region native Killian Malwaya, who played for Champagne Basket; and Senegalese big man Ousmane Ndiaye, who plays in Granada, Spain after training at ASA Basket, will be present in the same team. They will be joined by Nancy’s Iranian guard Mohammad Amini, who was just eliminated from the Betclic Elite play-in. Finally, a potential future face of the French championship will be in the team: Mouhamed Faye. An athletic Senegalese big man, Momo Faye is registered for the upcoming NBA Draft, but his name is associated with Paris Basketball, who are reportedly interested in one of the best shot-blockers and rebounders in the Italian league.
French players expected to reach high levels in the longer term have also been selected and grouped in Team Next Gen: LyonSO sensation Adam Atamna, Pole France center Cameron Houindo, who stood out at the Abu Dhabi ANGT, and SIG Strasbourg point guard Maxence Lemoine will have the chance to showcase their talents.
A springboard for French players
The 84 young players divided into 6 teams will be coached by NBA coaching staff members: Dave Joerger (Milwaukee Bucks), Rex Kalamian (Milwaukee Bucks), DJ Bakker (Charlotte Hornets), Fraser Ross McMains (Boston Celtics), Kevin Burleson (Detroit Pistons), Kyle Hines (Brooklyn Nets), Matt Brase (Philadelphia 76ers), former Quimper star Shaun Fein (Los Angeles Clippers), Trevor Hendry (Cleveland Cavaliers) and Ty Abbott (Los Angeles Lakers) will oversee the selections. Phil Handy, head of the NBL Next Stars program, and Dogus Balbay, who will coach the Next Generation team, will also be present.
Eurocamp has become an important event for many French championship players. It recently allowed Joan Beringer and Mohamed Diawara to seriously enter scouts’ radar thanks to their 2024 performance, and Nadir Hifi to make a name for himself and subsequently receive a summer contract with Minnesota. Former NBA players will attend the event: Derrick Rose, Sergio Rodriguez and Goran Dragic have confirmed their presence, along with French Philadelphia Sixers big man Guerschon Yabusele.
