The former Gilas Pilipinas guard put on a masterclass performance as Daegu KOGAS Pegasus edged Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, 79-77, on Saturday. Belangel’s explosive scoring display was complemented by six assists and five rebounds, lifting Daegu’s record to 9-19 in what proved to be the strongest individual performance among Filipino players during the weekend.

Tamayo’s heroics fall short in thrilling contest

Carl Tamayo delivered an impressive 21-point outing, but it wasn’t enough as Changwon LG Sakers suffered a heartbreaking 76-75 defeat to JD Cagulangan and the Suwon KT SonicBoom on Sunday. Despite Tamayo’s solid all-around contribution of two rebounds and two assists, Derrick Williams‘ game-winner proved to be the decisive factor, ending the Sakers’ two-game winning streak. Nevertheless, Changwon maintains its league-leading position with a 20-8 record.

Cagulangan contributed six points, five assists, and two rebounds for the 15-14 SonicBoom, building on his previous performance of two points, six rebounds, and six assists in their commanding 76-60 victory over Goyang Sono Skygunners the day before.

Mixed results across the Filipino contingent

Kevin Quiambao struggled with his shooting touch, managing 17 points on a disappointing 3-of-12 from beyond the arc, along with three rebounds and two assists in Saturday’s loss that dropped Goyang to a 10-18 record.

William Navarro sustained his return to form with a near-double-double performance of 17 points and nine rebounds, though Busan KCC Egis fell 76-68 to Anyang Jung Kwan Jang on Sunday. The defeat saw Busan slip to 16-12, while Rhenz Abando was held to just two points and one assist for the 19-10 Anyang squad.

Ethan Alvano delivered a complete statistical performance in Wonju DB Promy’s 83-76 road victory against Seoul Samsung Thunders at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium on Sunday. Alvano stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds, propelling Wonju to an 18-10 record. Justin Gutang managed four points, three rebounds, and three assists in the losing effort for Seoul Samsung, which dropped to 9-19.
