Guerschon Yabusele at Euro, to complete his « best year »
Arthur Puybertier
There were many people in the corridors of the Adidas Arena this Sunday for Game 1 of the Betclic ELITE Playoff Finals between Paris and Monaco. Among them was a well-known face of French basketball: Mathias Lessort (2.06 m, 29 years old). Speaking to DAZN, the French international shared his desire to participate in EuroBasket with Team France.
We last saw him after his terrible fibula fracture in December, caught a glimpse of him during the EuroLeague Final Four, and now find him in the stands of the Adidas Arena. Mathias Lessort spoke about his fitness level, having missed the Greek championship playoffs. The Martinique native wants to « be 100% with Team France » this summer. As Frédéric Fauthoux’s roster announcement approaches (end of June), Lessort states: « If I’m 100% ready, I’ll do everything to be there, help everyone and win this Euro. »
Defeated twice in EuroLeague against Paris, the center believes the club has « impressed everyone in their first season » in Europe’s top competition. « It’s impressive to see what they’ve done with their roster, everyone had doubts but the guys met the challenge. It’s great for them, for French basketball, and for the city of Paris, » he continues.
Coming to watch a game « between France’s two best teams, » the center had the opportunity to see his future teammate T.J Shorts play. The point guard will join Panathinaikos next season. He also watched his former club Monaco play, and commented on Roca Team’s season: « They reached the EuroLeague finals, only one team did better than them so we can congratulate them. It’s huge for French basketball to have Paris coming out of nowhere and Monaco reaching the finals. »
