Luka Doncic (6’7″, 26 years old) will be one of the big names at EuroBasket 2025. According to ESPN, the Slovenian star will join his national team to compete in the tournament, which starts on August 27. He will face France in a challenging group, three years after their memorable confrontation in Cologne.
Slovenia will be able to count on their playmaker Luka Doncic for EuroBasket 2025. After an early playoff elimination with the Lakers, the brilliant guard will have the summer to rest before joining his national team. He will be supported by his personal staff, including physical trainer Anže Maček and physiotherapist Javier Barrio Calvo, to approach the competition in the best possible physical condition.
In Group D, the Slovenians will notably face France, whom they beat at the last EuroBasket in 2022 thanks to Doncic’s legendary performance (47 points). This time, the match will take place in Katowice (Poland), also against Poland, Belgium, Iceland and Israel. The top four teams in the group will qualify for the round of 16, organized in Riga (Latvia).
LEGENDARY. Luka Doncic is simply out of this world! 🚀
Most points in a EuroBasket game in the last 65 years, and we are all witnesses.

EuroBasket 2017 champion alongside Goran Dragic, Doncic will try to lead Slovenia to a second medal. And he could be supported by Daniel Gafford, his former teammate in Dallas, who has reportedly been approached to obtain Slovenian nationality.
This international campaign could also help Luka Doncic arrive in shape for the NBA season restart. His new coach at the Lakers, JJ Redick, has emphasized the importance of a studious summer: « Everyone needs to come back in championship shape, » he declared at a press conference.
