LeBron James continues to push the boundaries of longevity in basketball. In the Los Angeles Lakers‘ dominant victory over the Dallas Mavericks (124-104), the 41-year-old superstar etched his name in history by becoming the oldest player to record a triple-double in the NBA.

A historic record at 41 years and 44 days

With a performance of 28 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds, James broke the previous record held by Karl Malone. The former power forward had recorded a triple-double at the age of 40 years and 127 days, also wearing the Lakers jersey.

James’ dominance was evident from the first quarter with 14 points scored. He already had 22 points and 12 assists at the start of the final quarter, before grabbing his 10th rebound with 2 minutes and 6 seconds remaining. The Lakers icon then left the court, capping off another sensational performance in his unprecedented 23rd NBA season.

Lakers find their winning ways

This performance comes as James prepares for this weekend’s All-Star Game, selected for the 22nd time in his career. His previous triple-double dated back to February 1, 2025.

Austin Reaves contributed to the victory with 18 points and 6 assists, while Rui Hachimura added 21 points. Both players returned after missing Tuesday’s loss to San Antonio for rest. This victory gives the Lakers 7 wins in their last 11 games.

On the Dallas side, Naji Marshall and Max Christie each scored 19 points, but could not prevent a ninth consecutive loss for the Mavericks, their longest losing streak in 28 seasons. Luka Doncic, the NBA scoring leader, was absent for the fourth consecutive game due to a minor hamstring injury.
