Jaron Blossomgame revives Monaco: « We didn’t want them to celebrate on our court »

Betclic ELITE - Scoring his record points with Monaco (26), Jaron Blossomgame was the key architect of Monaco's comeback in game 3 against Paris Basketball. A wake-up call that showed pride from a player who had been struggling in the series.

Jaron Blossomgame (6’7″, 31) changed Monaco’s face. After struggling in the first two games of the finals against Paris, the American forward stepped up Friday night in game 3 at Gaston-Médecin. With 26 points, including 17 in the third quarter alone, he reversed the series momentum and led Roca Team to a crucial victory (81-78). Already decisive in EuroLeague Final Four semifinals with his tremendous defense on Sasha Vezenkov, the Alpharetta (Georgia) native somewhat saved his team for the second time in a month.

The Blossomgame spark: 17 points in ten minutes

Coming off the bench, Jaron Blossomgame entered a badly started game for Monaco (1-13) with fierce determination. Unrecognizable in the first two games, he first lit some sparks in the first half (4 points), before catching fire after the break. With a rare sense of urgency, the American strung together three-pointers and paint scores, scoring 17 points in the third quarter alone. A period Monaco dominated 30-15, marking a turning point in both the game and series.

« Tonight I was hot, I was confident. My teammates found me in positions where I could be effective, » he said after the game. Subsequently, Nadir Hifi even acknowledged about Blossomgame: « Their worst shooter makes shots today. »

A defensive soldier repositioned at center

Beyond his offensive production, it was especially on defense that the former Cleveland player made his mark. Used in a « small-ball » lineup at center alongside Alpha Diallo at power forward, Blossomgame perfectly executed his role in defensive switches, helping contain T.J. Shorts (0/10 in second half). He also recorded a spectacular block on Kevarrius Hayes and disrupted Mikael Jantunen’s buzzer-beater attempt, without being called for a potential foul.

« When I’m at my best defensively, we’re a very difficult team to beat, » he stated. « These kinds of plays mean more to me than scoring, they lift everyone’s spirits. »

A man’s pride challenged

Criticized for his first two performances in this finals (0 points, 0 rebounds and 1 assist Tuesday in game 2) and only mentioned for a controversial push on Léopold Cavalière, Blossomgame responded in the best possible way. « We have a lot of pride, a lot of ego. We didn’t want them to come celebrate on our court, » he insisted. « It would have been easy to give up, but no! »

Vassilis Spanoulis praised this intensity: « I saw the fire back in their eyes. We survived in the most difficult game. Now it’s different psychologically, the guys believe again. »

A series revived

With this victory, Monaco cuts the series to 2-1. More importantly, Roca Team regains collective momentum and defensive cohesion around players who accept their missions. Blossomgame is the perfect example. « Playing center tonight really changed a lot for us. It shows my versatility, » he said.

Sunday, the series continues with a high-stakes game 4, and Monaco has an opportunity to force Paris into a fifth game. « We’re defending champions for a reason. And we hope to return to Paris, » Blossomgame concluded. The message is clear: Roca Team hasn’t said its last word.
