The strong performances of Roman Sorkin at EuroBasket 2025 haven’t gone unnoticed by NBA scouts. The 6’10 » 29-year-old Israeli center particularly shined during the continental tournament, drawing attention from several American franchises despite his long-term contract with Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

Impressive statistics attracting attention across the Atlantic

Averaging 16.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game at EuroBasket, Roman Sorkin has displayed convincing gameplay. His 51.4% shooting efficiency demonstrates his finishing abilities, particularly in pick-and-roll situations. The player has also shown his ability to stretch the floor, despite converting only 32% of his 3-point attempts.

His standout game against Iceland, where he scored 31 points, along with his performance against Greece, particularly impressed observers. He also showed strength against France during Israel’s pool victory, with 12 points and 8 rebounds. These consistent performances in both national team and club play have caught the attention of three NBA franchises.

According to SNY, the Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers, and New York Knicks are closely monitoring the Israeli player’s situation. In Portland, Sorkin would join his compatriot Deni Avdija, but the Blazers already face an overcrowded frontcourt with Donovan Clingan and Duop Reath, even after Deandre Ayton’s departure.

An interesting profile to complete rosters

For New York and Miami, both franchises are looking for a fifteenth roster player, and Roman Sorkin represents an economically viable solution. However, at 29 and with four years remaining on his contract with Maccabi Tel-Aviv, the Israeli center might hesitate to accept an end-of-bench role in the NBA.

Sorkin’s future will depend on his willingness to try the American adventure and the concrete offers he receives. His qualities demonstrated during EuroBasket 2025 prove he has the level to compete at the highest global standard.
