Despite excellent Luwawu-Cabarrot performance, Olympiakos wins spectacular game in Vitoria

Olympiakos perfectly launched its 2025-2026 EuroLeague campaign by winning on the tough court of Baskonia (96-102). In a game full of twists and three-pointers, the Greeks showed character to secure a precious away victory. Despite Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot scoring 23 points on 5/8 three-point shooting in 25 minutes.

A controlled start by the Reds
Coach Georgios Bartzokas’s men took control from the start thanks to aggressive defense. Baskonia remained scoreless for over 4 minutes, allowing Olympiakos to quickly build a gap (0-12). Tyler Dorsey was particularly sharp from three-point range in building this initial lead, supported by Nikola Milutinov in the paint.
Despite a Basque reaction led by Clement Frisch (8 points on 3/5 shooting and 2 rebounds for a 9 PIR in 14 minutes) and Markquis Howard, who hit consecutive three-pointers, the Reds maintained their advantage at the end of the first quarter (20-27). The battle continued in the second period, with constant exchanges between both teams.
A breathtaking finish decided by Walkup
After a tight first half (48-49), the second period offered a high-level spectacle. Baskonia took the lead thanks to Tadas Sedekerskis and Luka Samanic, but Olympiakos always found ways to respond. Sasha Vezenkov and Donta Hall helped the visitors enter the final quarter with a slight advantage (70-73).
The last quarter was incredibly intense. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot sparked the Basque comeback with a 4-point play (on Fournier’s foul) and a series of three-pointers, helped by Khalifa Diallo to push the score to 87-83. But Olympiakos never gave up. Evan Fournier (10 points on 3/9 shooting and 2 assists for a 6 PIR in 25 minutes) tied the game with two drives, before a Vezenkov three-pointer gave the Greeks back the lead (92-96).
