Facing NCAA « poaching », LNB wants to « avoid waste »: interview with Philippe Ausseur

Brice Dessert (7’0″, 22 years old), center for SIG Strasbourg, is among the many French talents being targeted by American universities. The former INSEP player is particularly attracting interest from UConn and Texas Tech programs, two NCAA powerhouses. According to information circulating behind the scenes of the French championship shared by Populaire du Centre journalist Matthieu Marot, the amount proposed for a single season could reach $2 million.
At 21, Brice Dessert is having a solid season in Betclic ELITE, averaging 9 points and 5 rebounds in 25 games, even though he started strong before declining, partly due to injuries. His profile as a tall, strong and explosive player naturally attracts interest from across the Atlantic, where the NIL system now allows legal compensation for student-athletes, even though a workaround is required for foreign players.
According to Matthieu Marot, it’s not yet guaranteed that he’ll opt for the NCAA, and if he does, he could only play there for one season.
🏀🤯 There are talks of $2 million per season offers from UConn and Texas Tech for Brice Dessert. But the Strasbourg center, who could only play one season, isn’t sure about landing in NCAA.

Unlike other young players leaving the LNB without pro experience, Brice Dessert has already accumulated experience at the highest national level. This status could also lead him to consider options other than NCAA: honoring his second contract year with SIG, trying his luck with another European club, or entering the 2025 NBA Draft.
