MrBeast, the YouTube star with millions of subscribers, set social media ablaze with a bold proposal: organizing a one-on-one duel between Michael Jordan and LeBron James to finally settle the eternal GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) debate. The idea was shared during a livestream with content creator Adin Ross, inspired by one of his most viral videos.

Inspiration from football with Cristiano Ronaldo

« One of my most viewed videos last year was when I had Cristiano Ronaldo play against a fan in one-on-one for a million dollars, » explained MrBeast. « So I was thinking the other day, imagine having LeBron and Michael Jordan play 1v1, but we handicap LeBron somehow. »

This proposal acknowledges the considerable age gap between the two legends: Michael Jordan is now 62 and retired in 2003 after his final season with the Washington Wizards, while LeBron James, aged 40, just completed his 22nd season with the Los Angeles Lakers and was selected to the All-NBA Second Team in June 2025.

A major logistical challenge but not impossible
