Tiago Splitter, Paris coach, will join Portland in NBA

Paris Basketball is losing its head coach. As announced several weeks ago, Tiago Splitter (40) is leaving the French capital after a historic season marked by qualifying for the EuroLeague playoffs. The Brazilian is joining the Portland Trail Blazers staff as an assistant coach, as revealed by Chema De Lucas and later confirmed by several specialized media outlets.

A return to the NBA for Splitter
NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014, Tiago Splitter continues his rise in coaching after beginning his post-playing career in Brooklyn in 2019. After a stint with the Houston Rockets, he took the gamble of taking charge of Paris Basketball for the 2024-2025 season. A winning bet, as Paris shone in EuroLeague, defying predictions to reach the playoffs. This remarkable performance allows him to return to the NBA in a strategic role alongside Chauncey Billups in Portland.
The Brazilian joins a rebuilding staff, where he’ll work alongside Patrick St. Andrews (former Memphis assistant) and Quinton Crawford (G-League champion with Stockton). This new dynamic for the Blazers marks a desire for renewal after several staff departures in April.
Tabellini to Paris, Marco heading to Liga Endesa?
To fill the void left by Tiago Splitter, Paris Basketball has chosen Francesco Tabellini to lead the team. Recently with Nymburk, the Italian coach returns to the sidelines after a successful experience in the Czech Republic.
Meanwhile, the future of Carles Marco, Splitter’s assistant in Paris, could be in Spain. According to Chema De Lucas, the former Liga Endesa player is the favorite to take charge of newly relegated Leyma Coruña. A deserved promotion for someone who contributed to Paris’s great journey this season.

Paris Basketball will therefore enter a new era, with both roster and staff to rebuild. But before that, there’s a first French championship title to pursue.
