An experienced point guard to lead Chorale
Since arriving in France in 2022, Javon Masters has established himself as a reliable point guard. Having played for La Rochelle, Pau-Lacq-Orthez and Châlons-Reims, he has consistently demonstrated leadership and scoring abilities. During the 2024-2025 season, he averaged 12.6 points, 4 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 38 games with Champagne Basket.
A Cotonou status player, Javon Masters was attracted by Chorale’s project and expressed this to coach Thomas Andrieux, who explained: « As a championship specialist for three seasons, Javon showed real determination to join us. He convinced me with his game volume since his arrival at La Rochelle. »
From Canadian university to Pro B
Originally from Ontario and having attended the University of New Brunswick, Javon Masters became the all-time leading scorer in Canadian university championship history with 2,407 points in 96 games. After starting his professional career in Spain and a strong season in Romania (averaging 16 points and 4 assists in 2021-2022), he moved to France, where he made his mark with his aggressiveness and intensity. Strong and effective in drive-and-kick situations, he is however less known for his outside shooting (less than 35% from 3-point range in 2024-2025, on low volume).
His role at Chorale will be to bring his driving ability, explosiveness with the ball, and championship experience, alongside Antoine Diot, Harvey Gauthier, Jahvon Blair and Matteo Legat.
The desire to make Chorale shine
« I’m delighted to join Chorale Roanne Basket. I have deep respect for this team and its staff. I can’t wait to get there and work toward achieving our goals for the upcoming season, » said Javon Masters, who hopes to bring Chorale back to Betclic ELITE.
