The jersey that Stephen Curry wore during the decisive Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics has just set a new record. This historic jersey, in which the Golden State Warriors guard secured his fourth championship and his first Finals MVP trophy, was sold for a record amount of $2.45 million in a private transaction.

A Booming Collectibles Market
Barry Meisel, president and chief operating officer of the MeiGray Group, confirmed this exceptional sale. This is the only jersey worn by Curry during that historic game on June 17, 2022, where the guard scored 34 points to deliver the championship to the Warriors. « We have seen a significant increase over the past 12 to 18 months in private sales of this magnitude, » Meisel stated. « Premium items are selling at multiples of what they were worth several years ago, and both buyers and sellers prefer private transactions. »
This sale shatters the previous record for a Curry jersey, which was held by the jersey from his second NBA game in his career, sold for $1.758 million at a Sotheby’s auction in June 2024. Ironically, the MeiGray Group had already sold this same 2022 Finals jersey for $1.7 million three and a half years ago.
This transaction perfectly illustrates the growing enthusiasm for collectibles related to historic sports moments. Curry, who is currently averaging 28.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists this season, also continues to make history on the court with the Warriors, currently eighth in the Western Conference with a record of 23 wins and 19 losses.
